Dear Parents/Students:

First, let me start with,  I will try my best to do this thing called onlined learning with the least amount of stress as I can but still fulfill the requirements of the State of SD, Diocese of Sioux Falls, and Sacred Heart School. We can do this together.  Please email me any concerns you have or if something is not working out.  I want to make this as easy as I possibly can while covering all the ways different people can access the information.

My lessons will be on my lesson plan website which you can access through the yanktonsacredheartschool.org or directly https://ko041.k12.sd.us.  If you go there, you will see the lessons required if you are doing written and/or online. I will put them in Google Classroom and give each student the code too if that is easier for students and then we will see what is easiest for all.

Here are some things that you will need:

If you need any of these passwords or help, you will need to contact me via email kim.olson@k12.sd.us

Accessing www.bigideasmath.com -our online math textbook:

After you log on, you should see your textbook cover in upper right box. This is the dynamic classroom. This is where you will see videos explaining the lessons.  Under the book cover, you will see the lessons that are in the book- use the arrow keys to get to the lesson you want then click continue.  You should see a red menu button. You will need to find the red menu on left and the correct chapter and the correct lesson. Click that and it will help you see the lesson and go through the video using the check button, help button, next button (if screen is small you will need to scroll to see the whole thing or there is a button to make it a full screen on the bottom right.) There is a sound button on the top right. There will be questions along the way to see if you are understanding the lesson. The red bar can get you your menu and you can press back arrow and it will show you the next lesson or chapter.

To get back to your dashboard, you can always click the house and/or words Big Ideas Math in the top right corner.

On your dashboard, there is a skills practice. It is on the right hand side - those are our standards for this lesson.  You can click on the left window called skills  for specific questions on those skills.

In the dashboard, you should also see your assignments under the assignment section below the textbook.  Do not do the lessons before you have worked through the lesson examples in the textbook section or going through your actual textbook.  Make sure to submit the lessons after you do them.  You should be able to press SEE ALL and it will give you all lessons to do and date and time due, overdue and submitted plus the scores received and later what the answers are.  Some lessons have a couple of chances to answer.  The tests and quizzes are only one chance to answer.

Finally, on your dashboard is the resources section with various tools you can use.  This section really isn't used but you may go there and look in glossary, use a math tool, play a game.
